| TRACY House | TRACY House (Transgender Resources and Advocacy Center for Youth) is APEB’s new drop-in center in Downtown Oakland 1924 Franklin St @ 19th, 3rd floor. TRACY House is dedicated to better meeting the needs of the underserved transgender and gender non-conforming youth in our community. TRACY House is historic; the first of its kind in Oakland, a drop in center specifically created for the transgender and gender non-conforming citizens. TRACY House is named after a beloved staff member of APEB named Tracy Bumpus. Tracy was transgender rights advocate and warrior woman that past away suddenly in 2011.
TRACY House offers free counseling, a drop-in center, job preparedness work-shops, advice on transitioning from culturally competent staff, access to transition services, support groups, and AA/NA groups. |
| Mermaid Swim | Mermaid Swim is a CDC-funded project adapted from CLEAR to help young transgender women and gender non-conforming people age 14 to 29. Mermaid Swim will assist young “transgender” women in answering some of the questions as well as addressing some of the pitfalls that can arise for the MtF girls making the transition. Join us and by becoming a member of Mermaid Swim can earn gift cards. |
| Divas Den | Divas Den is our main transgender support group; open to all people under the transgender umbrella. We meet each Wednesday from 5:00pm to 7:30pm. As a participant of Divas Den we are drama free, supportive to one another, and we are building community. We have featured guest speakers from the Transgender Law Center, Medical Professionals and Transgender Spiritual Leaders as well as Social Justice Activists. Allen Temple Church sponsors our meals so that we always have a hot meal and some sisterly love to share. |
| HIV Services | TRACY House has free HIV Testing. Additionally, we have both full service primary medical care and HIV Care, ADAP, appropriate referrals, HIV Prevention Education and friendly counselors. |
